What Is liposuction?

How the Procedure Works
Consultation
Assessment of problem areas, determining removal volume and expected results. Checking skin elasticity to predict contraction.
Preparation
Standard examination: blood tests, ECG. Weight stabilization. Stop smoking and blood thinners 2 weeks before the procedure.
Surgery
Local or general anesthesia depending on scope. Duration 1–3 hours. Cannulas are inserted through 3–5 mm punctures for fat aspiration.
Recovery
Compression garment for 4–6 weeks. Return to work in 3–5 days. Light exercise after 2–3 weeks.
Recovery
After liposuction, swelling and bruising are normal and persist for 2–4 weeks. Wearing a compression garment 24/7 for 4–6 weeks is critically important for even skin retraction and contour formation. Light work can resume after 3–5 days, sports after 3–4 weeks. Puncture sites heal without visible marks. The final result is assessed at 3–6 months after complete swelling resolution.
