Abdominoplasty — Services

What Is abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure to reshape the abdominal wall by removing excess skin and subcutaneous fat, eliminating stretch marks in the lower abdomen, and restoring muscle tone. The operation is especially relevant after significant weight loss or multiple pregnancies when diet and exercise can no longer restore a toned midsection.

Dr. Khaustov performs both full and mini-abdominoplasty, choosing the scope of surgery based on the extent of changes. Full abdominoplasty includes diastasis recti repair, which restores abdominal wall strength and defines the waistline. The incision is placed low, in the bikini zone, and is hidden under clothing.

At Figura Clinic in Odesa, abdominoplasty is often combined with flank liposuction to create smooth body contours. Dr. Khaustov pays special attention to scar aesthetics and creating a natural-looking navel.

Who Is It For abdominoplasty?

  • Excess skin and fat on the abdomen after weight loss
  • Stretch marks and skin laxity after pregnancies
  • Diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles)
  • Skin-fat apron in the lower abdomen
  • Ineffectiveness of diet and fitness for abdominal correction

How the Procedure Works

1

Consultation

Assessment of abdominal wall condition, diastasis severity, and tissue excess. Determining whether full or mini-abdominoplasty is appropriate.

2

Preparation

Full examination: blood tests, ECG, abdominal ultrasound. Weight stabilization before surgery. Stop smoking 3–4 weeks before.

3

Surgery

General anesthesia, duration 2–4 hours. Removal of excess skin and fat, diastasis repair, navel reshaping. Flank liposuction if needed.

4

Recovery

Compression garment for 6–8 weeks. Drains removed after 2–5 days. Gradual return to activity within 3–4 weeks.

Recovery

Abdominoplasty recovery requires patience. The first 5–7 days are the most uncomfortable — rest and walking in a slightly bent position are recommended. Drains are removed on days 2–5. A compression garment is worn 24/7 for 6–8 weeks. Light work can resume after 2–3 weeks, exercise after 6–8 weeks. The scar gradually fades and becomes barely visible over 6–12 months. The final result develops over 3–6 months.
