Chin surgery — Services
What Is chin surgery?
Chin surgery (mentoplasty or genioplasty) is an operation to change the shape, size, or position of the chin. The chin plays a crucial role in how the facial profile and proportions are perceived. A chin that is too small, receding, or overly prominent can disrupt facial harmony, making its correction a significant improvement to overall appearance.
Dr. Khaustov performs both chin augmentation using silicone implants or osteotomy and chin reduction. The method is chosen individually after careful analysis of facial proportions and profile. Modern implants are made from biocompatible materials that integrate well with tissues and do not require replacement.
The procedure is often combined with rhinoplasty for comprehensive profile harmonization. At Figura Clinic in Odesa, Dr. Khaustov plans each procedure using facial proportion analysis to achieve a balanced and natural result.

How the Procedure Works
Consultation
Analysis of facial proportions and profile, computer modeling of the result. Determining the correction method — implant or osteotomy.
Preparation
Standard pre-operative examination. X-ray or CT of the mandible if needed. Stop smoking and blood thinners 2 weeks before.
Surgery
General or local anesthesia, duration 1–2 hours. The incision is made inside the mouth or beneath the chin in an inconspicuous location.
Recovery
Compression bandage for 3–5 days. Soft diet for the first week. Major swelling resolves within 2 weeks. Full recovery in about a month.
Recovery
After mentoplasty, swelling and moderate discomfort persist for 1–2 weeks. A compression bandage is worn for 3–5 days. With an intraoral approach, careful oral hygiene and a soft diet are necessary for the first week. Return to work is possible after 7–10 days. Physical activity is restricted for 4 weeks. The final result can be assessed at 2–3 months once all swelling has resolved.
